TSM Achieves VIVE Claim Level, Expanding Sustainable Sugarcane Ethanol and Green CO₂ Solutions

Bangkok, Thailand – TSM Group, a leading Thai sugar mill, has reached a major sustainability milestone by achieving the VIVE Claim Level in just its second year of participation. This accomplishment highlights the company’s dedication to responsible sourcing, ethical supply chain management, and continuous improvement in sustainability performance.

As a producer of raw sugar, refined sugar, bagasse, molasses ethanol, and green electricity and green CO₂, TSM has made significant strides in integrating sustainability across its operations. Key improvements include enhanced farmer due diligence, refined supply chain standards, and the recruitment of three dedicated sustainability personnel to drive implementation efforts across the organisation.

A defining achievement in TSM’s sustainability journey is its distinction as the first VIVE participant in Asia to produce VIVE verified ethanol and green CO₂, both derived from sustainably sourced sugarcane. This advancement demonstrates the company’s commitment to reducing environmental impact and supporting industries seeking low-carbon alternatives.

Benjamin French, Associate Director at CZ and Global Lead for VIVE, praised TSM’s rapid progress, stating: “TSM’s commitment to sustainability is evident in the strides they have made within VIVE. Achieving the Claim Level in just two years showcases their dedication to responsible supply chain management. As the first Asian participant producing VIVE verified ethanol and green CO₂, TSM is paving the way for sustainable sugarcane production while providing beverage companies and other industries with viable, low-carbon alternatives.”

VIVE verified ethanol offers a lower carbon footprint as a bio-based alternative to fossil fuel-derived ethanol, making it particularly valuable for fuel production, as well as for the food, beverage, and pharmaceutical sectors aiming to enhance their sustainability efforts. Additionally, TSM’s green CO₂ recovery process captures emissions from ethanol production, repurposing CO₂ for industrial applications.

As part of its expanding sustainability initiatives, TSM Group now has the capability to verify CO₂ credits for natural gas offsets to industrial consumers, providing an innovative solution for businesses looking to reduce their carbon footprint. By offering verified emissions reductions, TSM is helping industries transition towards lower-carbon energy sources while aligning with global climate commitments.
